Chemist • Textile Innovator • STEM Advocate • Morgan State University Alumna
Aalliyeh Clinton is a chemist, entrepreneur, and STEM advocate from East Baltimore. A graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, she began college at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology before coming home to Morgan State University, where her first semester took place virtually after COVID hit. She has since pursued graduate study in materials science engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Aalliyeh started her company after experiencing discrimination as an intern at a billion-dollar defense company. Rather than return to a place that tried to turn her down, she built an environment where people like her could enjoy their work. Her company, Monia's Engineered Materials, is an advanced textile company that creates personal protective equipment for scientists by building protection into the fibers at the molecular level, while keeping it sustainable, inclusive, and fashionable.
Her work has earned real momentum. In November 2025, Aalliyeh won her largest investment to date, $20,000 from Black Ambition, and the program later took her cohort to Paris, where they toured Louis Vuitton and learned how a family business builds a legacy over generations. She has also been recognized by Baltimore City, won a pitch competition through Black Girl Ventures, and built an advisory board that includes leaders in manufacturing, investing, and biomanufacturing.
Alongside her company, Aalliyeh leads Cool Nerds on the Rise, a STEM advocacy program that began with hands-on experiments for students in her East Baltimore community. Her message to young people is simple: science is life, down to the food we eat, the ground we walk on, and the air we breathe. Next, she plans to expand beyond lab coats into a global PPE company and step into fashion and modeling.
